FYI -- Random Twins Spring Training Game Info, Etc.

FYI -- Twins/Red Sox spring trainng game is scheduled to be carried live on MLB Network 2/25 at 6 p.m. Central.

My local system doesn't carry that channel. The feed is available on at least one online streaming site that I know of, but I'm reluctant to mention the URL here, so the feed won't get taken down. Google for it, it shouldn't be too difficult to find.

Who starts in OF/DH?

Hey everyone,

Well the time has finally come. Have discussed it with jan and neither of us are up to continuing the board. Since we started over 12 years ago, and have been in the DTFC location for about 8 of that...it's been a great run.

I will leave the preseason-related threads going until opening day, and then shut everything down except this thread...so everyone knows...

Hey everybody, it's gettin' to be that time again! It's been a long winter already, so here's just a few observations to bring warmer thoughts.

I've been scouring all over the place for the right handed bat that we need. This past week has been a BSox fantasy camp, and I didn't see what we need there. I haven't spotted the bat that takes us over the hump yet. I'm still hopeful.

Derek Lowe is here throwing alot though.

Twins Minor League Transactions - 2009 season

The Twins have signed a few minor league free agents.

Outfielder Luis Matos is a former top Orioles prospect who spent last season playing in Mexico.

Righthander Bob Keppel is a former Mets first round pick who has spent some time with the Royals and Rockies.

Lefthander Sean Henn was drafted by the Yankees and spent some time with the Padres last season. Has a big arm but hasn't figured it out. It will be interesting to see what Rochester pitching coach Bobby...

At some point I missed the naming of the stadium. What did Target donate for what in order for the stadium to be named after the company? It's a terribly boring name.

With all of the new rumors surrounding the team, and with free agency and the Winter Meetings coming up, I thought maybe it was time to move away from what was in 2008 (although that was great!) and move on to what could be in 2009.

I thought we could use a new thread to discuss remaking this team into a contender. I didn't think the Twins in 09 thread was quite the right place.

Anyway, here's what I'd like to see done.

Leave well enough alone:
Mauer C, Morneau 1B, Casilla 2B, Nathan RP, Neshek RP, Breslow RP, Crain RP, Liriano SP, Baker SP, Slowey SP, Kubel DH, Tolbert UT

I would consider offering long-term deals to Mauer (2 year extension), Baker (buy out 1 year of FA) and...

Postseason Game Talk

Assuming Twins make it to postseason, we can have individual game threads but I thought a thread to discuss postseason play of all the teams would be worth a start now.

To begin, I wonder who people would choose for the postseason roster for the Twins? It has to be 25 players. In past Twins have typically chosen 10 pitchers and 15 position players, but that is not absolute. The choices have to have been on 25 man roster as of Aug. 31 or can be substitutions for players on DL not yet...
