Hey everyone,
Well the time has finally come. Have discussed it with jan and neither of us are up to continuing the board. Since we started over 12 years ago, and have been in the DTFC location for about 8 of that...it's been a great run.
I will leave the preseason-related threads going until opening day, and then shut everything down except this thread...so everyone knows we didn't just disappear, and can find the rest of you if you decide to collect somewhere else.
Thanks first to all the many posters over the years. Many moved on....finishing graduate school, having kids, etc....but we always had a pretty good group....and pretty well educated too. It has been a learning experience....wouldn't have stayed with it myself if I wasn't learning something by participating.
Thanks to the posters who stuck with us through the years. Killer4, twinsoholic, Sarah were all in original group of posters, and curmudgeon with heart of gold Ross was there early too. I always thought Ross was a lot funnier than people gave him credit for. He certainly got the board up in a tizzy a few years ago, but I thought it was mostly good debate, with some excesses. Unfortunately our debate from that time is completely lost due to the great ezBoard (now yuku) meltdown of about 4 years ago.
Thanks to Mick from DTFC....he was original board owner until he passed it off to me a few years ago. Our board had bounced around to a number of locations, until we found a stable home with the DTFC boards. DTFC itself was originally formed as a refuge from the wild flame wars of now long defunct fastball.com. DTFC originally stood for something completely different....but I came to think of it as the Darn Twins Fan Club.
Thanks to moderators Jane and Fran who have stuck with us so long. Their passion for enjoyment of this team helped ignite this board. Well we always wanted civility....but nobody ever said anything about passionate disagreement! There was a time in the beginning where it was just me, jan, and Nikephoros in constant agreement....boring! So anybody who thinks we had a cabal to silence disagreement is crazy....
Thanks to family members of Joe Mays and Corey Koskie who became friends of the board early on and used us as a source of fanatic fan info.
And thanks to TwinsGeek, who referred discussion from his early columns to our board, greatly increasing our traffic.
Finally...thanks to jan....she's the one who really set the tone of civility for the board. She may have thought it was totally out of control at times, and sometimes it was....but compared to the rest of the internet, it's been a paradise of civility in here...and certainly a lot of fun!.
