Normally there isn't much info on Barrett, since he's a relief pitcher. I saw him pitch last week for Rochester and so I thought I would relay my observations.
I was surprised by how good his fastball is. It was high-80s by report when he started, sometimes getting up to 91 or so, but in relief he throws harder. He was sitting 93 and he wasn't in very long, so I'm not sure what he tops out at. In any case, it's a live pitch delivered with some deception.
His main secondary pitch is a hard curveball, which was 81-83 normally. Sometimes it would flatten out but when it happened in this case, it didn't cost him. When he spun it off right, the pitch was very nasty.
Barrett's main weakness right now is probably command of the curve and also consistency with it. His fastball is already ML-caliber... similar to JC Romero but with a cleaner delivery and less fastball movement (offset by more fastball command). This is from limited observation, but he looked real good... maybe a speciality lefty for the Twins when rosters expand.
